Low Vision Training
Low vision means that even with regular glasses, contact lenses, or medical treatment, everyday tasks like reading, recognizing faces, or seeing street signs become challenging. We specialize in training that helps you adapt and thrive. Our services include:
Low Vision Device Training – We teach you how to effectively use specialized tools designed to enhance your remaining vision, including magnifying reading glasses for close-up tasks, video magnifiers that display enlarged text on a screen, handheld and stand magnifiers for reading labels or menus, and telescopes for distance viewing such as reading signs or watching presentations.
Filter Evaluations – We assess which tinted lenses or filters can reduce glare and improve contrast, making it easier and more comfortable for you to see in various lighting conditions.
Eccentric Viewing Training – When central vision is affected, we teach techniques to use your peripheral vision more effectively, helping you see details more clearly and read more comfortably.
Computer Training
Technology can open doors to independence, communication, and entertainment. We provide step-by-step computer instruction tailored to your vision needs and experience level:
Getting Started – We help you set up your new computer or adapt your current one, making it easier to use with vision loss.
Accessibility Features – Learn how to adjust font sizes, contrast settings, magnification options, and voice commands built into your computer to make everything easier to see and navigate.
Screen Readers – We train you on software that reads aloud what's on your screen, allowing you to browse the internet, send emails, and use programs independently even with significant vision loss.
Screen Magnifiers – Learn to use programs like ZoomText and Windows Magnifier that enlarge everything on your screen while maintaining clarity.
Touch Typing – No computer experience? No problem. We offer touch typing instruction so you can type without looking at the keyboard, building your confidence and efficiency.
“All of our training is provided at your own pace in a supportive, patient environment. We meet you where you are and help you achieve your personal goals for independence.”
